Search Engine Optimisation Exeter – SEO experts

A website is, by far, the best and indeed the cheapest marketing tool you will ever use. It will deliver your messages and your brand in a consistent and measurable way 24 hours of every day.

However, most websites only ever achieve a fraction of what they are capable of.

The potential of your website and indeed your entire digital marketing is massive. It is no exaggeration to say that your website could easily attract 100% more business than it does at the moment – and not even break a sweat.

Your will expose your services and products (or taking your customer’s orders) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has no geographical boundaries and will reach overseas markets just as easily as the ones in the UK. But if you do not rank on Google you will be missing out on a huge amount of business.

Local businesses typically only have a very small market share because their digital marketing, particularly their website, is literally stuck in second gear.

This is why we need to take our website ranking (how many customers are actually looking at YOUR websites rather than a competitors) very seriously indeed.

When I say “ranking” I really mean “rankings” because if you want lots more customers you need to be on page one for every search term that your customers are likely to be using.

Things you always wanted to know about Search Engine Optimisation

Although SEO is an industry in itself we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions. Questions that every website owner should read before starting their journey into search engine optimisation.

  1. How much will it cost to be number one on Google?
Ooh, that’s a great starting question. There is no standard cost or time frame to rank highly on Google or any other search engine. This is because it is very much dependent on how much work your competitors are putting into their own SEO. Some sectors are very easy to rank whilst others take a bit more time.
  2. I’m too busy to keep updating my website.

That’s quite common among busy business owners. There’s enough to do every day without coming up with new content for the website every month.

Nothing brings in new business like a good Google ranking for the most popular search terms.

This is where we can help. We would be delighted to write new copy, new blogs and new updates that will appear in Google ranking and bring you new business.
  3. How does social media and SEO integrate?

Your SEO can be restricted just to your website or it can connect with social media accounts. This means you get greater exposure from every new article that is written.

Most search engines see social media as a way to identify new and relevant content.

Luckily with modern websites, any update you make can be sent to your social media accounts automatically, managing all of your social accounts with ease.
  4. My site was optimised yesterday why am I still only position 25 on Google?

This is a very popular question when starting to optimise any website. When a page on your site is optimised the change is visible to the site visitor straight away.

But the change is not visible to the search engines straight away. The search engine will not be aware of any changes until the site is ‘crawled’ (or reviewed). There is a bit of a delay as lists of pages are added to search results in a process known as “indexing”.

These processes can mean that a change in page ranking can sometimes take a while to take effect.
  5. Hey, just add keywords to the page and I’ll be number one on Google!

Ah yes, if only that were true. This is the classic SEO myth; all you need to do is add a few keywords to the page and it will jump straight to number one!

Not true I’m afraid – but you’ve probably worked that out already. If it was that simple then surely everyone would be on page one? With only ten spaces on page one, it clearly takes a lot more than that.

Google and others, no longer look at keywords as a primary way of identifying the focus of a page. They have complex processes that analyse over 200 hundred factors relating to both the individual page and the website in general.

    That’s not a typo.

So, based on these two hundred key areas, Google is always comparing your pages and your site to your competitors to decide which pages offer the best solution for the person doing the search.

Of course, each company and industry is different. Each market has different competition that will also affect your ranking potential. That doesn’t change the need for company owners to brief their diogital marketing agency to get them onto page one for as many hot search terms as they can.
